Christmas Towns Are All Around

Picture
While my family and I go out to purchase presents, and get our family Christmas tree every year, we also like to ride around our neighborhood and surrounding areas to see all of the beautiful Christmas displays!  Whether you live in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area, in a neighboring state or want to venture out and take a road trip to see a Christmas town for yourself, I am here to help!  Below, I have curated a list of some of the Top Christmas Towns to visit! Check them out.
  1. Alexandria, VA- I absolutely love walking around Old Town Virginia during Christmas time! The tree lined streets lit with beautiful Christmas lights, the cobblestone walkways, and the Christmas displays in the local brick and mortar store windows are so charming. You can also enjoy hot beverages or ice cream while walking through this Christmas town!
  2. Washington, District of Columbia-  It is beautiful this time of year in the District as well.  I love to see the window displays in Macy's and hear the musicians that play holiday music up and down the streets!
  3. Williamsburg, Virginia- During the Christmas season, Busch Gardens transforms into a beautiful Christmas town. It features 8-differnent themed villages, letter writing to Santa, Caroling, Pottery Making, Christmas Shops, Rides, Tree Lighting, Train Rides, a Scavenger Hunt and More!
  4. St. Augustine, Florida- In a recent poll, St. Augustine was ranked as one of the top Christmas Town destinations in the U.S.  You get all of the Christmas feels without the cold weather!
  5. Helen, Georgia- just below the Blue Ridge Mountains, you will find the small town of Helen where you can enjoy a classic Christmas complete with wreath making, a Christmas Market, music,  and a tree lighting ceremony, just like in the Hallmark movies!
  6. Durango, Colorado- In Durango, a quaint mountain town, one of the coolest activities you're able to experience is boarding The infamous Polar Express, while on the ride you will get a cup of hot chocolate, there will be Santa sightings for the children and a gift for every child on the train! How fun is that?
  7. Manchester, Vermont- If you have a desire to step back in time, into the most picturesque scene in the iconic film, White Christmas, then look no further than Manchester.  Sources say that visitors should book their stay at Wilburton Inn for an authentic Vermont Christmas experience.
  8. New York City-  New York offers a different type of Christmas Experience. In the "City That Never Sleeps" you are never in short supply of something to do. The hustle and bustle of the city itself will keep you on your toes. Some of the most popular activities are: ice skating, horse drawn carriage rides, grabbing a bag of roasted chestnuts while shopping, tree lighting ceremonies, visiting the American Girl Store, or seeing the Macy's on 34th street all decked out for the Christmas season!
  9. Bethlehem, PA- In Bethlehem, this quaint Christmas Town offers its own charm, walking tours, window decoration competitions, horse drawn carriage rides, Christmas in the Quarters- here you have an opportunity to participate in activities for the whole family to enjoy like live music, a Christmas themed art exhibit, and if it gets too cold, you can warm yourself up in one of the Christmas cottages!
  10. Franklin, Tennessee- This Christmas Town takes you right into the stories of A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist, you get a chance to experience literature come to life in the town's "Dickens of a Christmas Festival!" Sing along with carolers, chat with the cast of Charles Dickens most beloved characters, and  stroll through the village. You never know who you might meet along the way; Mr. "Bah-Hum-Bug" himself , Ebenezer Scrooge could be lurking around a corner or you could bump into Father Christmas.

Happy Traveling!
